Um lol, I don't see why people care so much about winning an award. They are just for fun and while I haven't followed this whole thing, I don't
think that people should get so worked out about wanting to win them. Really, it won't change anything in your life lol.
And yes there have been cliques back when I posted regularly and I agree with whoever said (I kind of skimmed this thing) that all groups have them. Like I was more or less in the "clique" that a lot of people at the board didn't care for, even if I was less vocal. That being said, the person I have considered my best online friend for a while doesn't even like any of the people that I was in that clique with and my favorite ally from my consistent gaming days wasn't in it either lol. Cliques exist but most people don't live and die by them. You can make friends wherever. Oh and word to the Karen/Cddls cak love! I loved Survivor Destination - your games make me want to play consistently again :P Ok carry on lol. |

Karen's name always makes me think of this one song by Cake:
"She's changing her name from Kitty to Karen, She's trading her MG for a white...Chrysler Le Baron, I want a girl with a short skirt and a lllllloooooonnnnnnnggggggg JACKET" |

I don't think Tim should have been banned for being a "certified DOUCHE". Can you please show me the certification? I never knew you could get a
certification for being a DOUCHE. Does it expire? How much does it cost? Does the certification vary by state
All jokes aside, I think people have been taking this awards thing a bit too far (which is why I have personally tried to exclude myself from running these awards. That among many other reasons to account for my lack of participation in board goings-on in the past while). From the get-go, I have seen people try to whore votes for themselves, namely Joey. While he wasn't sending out an email to friends saying he deserved the award, he did step out there and offer a platform why he should win in a certain category. While of course this tactic isn't against the rules, he did get razzed a bit by whoring himself in several categories, showing that he may have been a bit "desperate" to win something. I feel that people are viewing Tim's tactic of whoring votes as "desperate" for winning something he thinks he might not win due to the nature of FGC (or at least how he views it). By principle, is this really that different from other people's campaigning? I don't really agree that Tim's tactic goes along with the spirit of the awards, but I don't think he should be banned for it. And his actions definitely do not call for people (especially mods and admins) to be calling him a certified douche. This just reinforces the notion that there are cliques at FGC, and that a major clique is the administration! Basically I just saw a few members of the modmin team and a few of their groupies calling out and ganging up on Tim. Maybe people are taking these awards a bit too seriously. I really enjoyed past years awards, but I haven't enjoyed these ones so much. MAYBE ITS BECAUSE I DIDNT GET NOMINATED IN EVERY CATEGORY AND I DIDN'T EVEN WIN IN THE CATEGORY THAT WAS I NOMINATED IN, FUCKERS! |

Phil people were encouraged to state why they should win (especially in the nomination process).
Some people (Joey for instance) do a lot but it doesn't always get noticed so stating why you should win is perfectly acceptable. Asking people who don't even come to this board to vote is not acceptable and really takes away from the spirit of the awards. Honestly, I should just pick all the winners |

I agree with your post Natasha. I am aware that people were encouraged to state why they should win. I will post a longer and more detailed post to you and to
Zach in the admin forum on why I posted what I posted. I think if I were to continue my response in this thread, I would be beyond what needs to be said
publicly.

Some people (Joey for instance) do a lot but it doesn't always get noticed so stating why you should win is perfectly acceptable.Stating reasons why we should win categories is something I thought everyone who was nominated would do, but in turn I think people were just tired of seeing my name (all the poll author column) and me posting why I should win backfired and I lost, because I honestly should have won everything. |
