Alright Owen. i'll take the bait. I hope i'll be able to live up to your high standards of "properly" defending Hillary. You do seem to be more interested in insulting people who disagree with you in this thread than actually educating them. Give the latter a try, if you are so much wiser.

I am a Hillary supporter because I like her personally, I like her voting record, I like what she stands for and I think she, out of what we have to pick from, has the best chance of getting the job done. I respect her for how far she has come, despite all that has stood against her. I like that she just flat out declares numerous Bush policies a failure. I like her for being, by far, the most gay friendly candidate currently in the race.

When it came out that bill had cheated on her, she stood by him. And then took what could have been the lowest point of her life, and turned it into a winning senate bid. The republicans wanted to nail and humiliate her, and taint the Clinton presidency and instead she became a U.S. senator. I find that to be admirable.

Keep in mind that the republicans have been threatened by her, and have been working to take her down since Bill first entered the White House. Considering the way they've ran the country, does that not motivate you to give her a second look? As she has said during one of the debates, she will wear a negative comment from Karl Rove like a badge of honor.

Her being a "bitch" is a good thing. Do you want a gentle, nice woman in charge? She is as tough, if not tougher then the men running.

Why the fuck am I even arguing about Bill Clinton? This is Hillary we're talking about here. You're employing the argument that one Clinton spouse is necessarily like the other when that isn't the case.

It is the case. They actually have a lot in common. She is his wife. She had a front row seat to an administration in which we weren't in the war and had a functional economy. She has shown in the senate and as first lady that she is pragmatic, and will work with republicans to get shit done for the country. In her short time in the senate, she has risen in power and respect. She has formed friendships with her conservative colleagues, and these friendships will benefit her as president. This is the type of experience that Obama lacks. She will be able to bring people together, and her time in the senate actually shows that. She has more than words to fall back on. While Obama preaches about an end to the war in iraq, he still votes for funding. So does Hillary, but she was at least around when the vote was cast. It's easy for him to oppose it when he wasn't even around. And one of Obama's top advisers wants Obama to keep up to "80,000 troops in Iraq as of late 2010". This is a contradiction and makes me believe in him less.

I don't know for sure what Obama will do as president. But I am not sure Obama has proved he is worth the risk, and I think we should pick someone that we know will be competent at the job. Hillary, for all you can say about her, at least you know her. At her worst, she'd be a saint in comparison to Bush or Mccain.

You fell disappointingly short. You did nothing to convince me of the superiority of her prospective policies. More of the same fluff about her being a strong woman, etc.

She's been in the White House actually. And don't say she didn't do shit, cause she did.

Name her litany of accomplishments then, oh wise one. After her failure to revamp the health care system, she was one of the most politically innocuous first ladies in recent memory.
