I like music from every decade (except maybe 50's) and each genre has it's pro's and con's. The 60's introduced Doo-Wop which is amazing,
but it also brought on alot of copycat genres. The 70's had disco which is the best genre of music EVER, but it introduced harder rock which is
vomitrocious. The 80's had...well not too much good stuff just stupid new wave and rock. The 90's had rap, rock, grunge, and a lot of other music but
most of it was pretty much all the same and really lame. The 2000's introduced being yourself and flaws as beauty which is good. But it also lead to the
most commercial phase music has ever had with having most of the top 10 songs be either RnB, Rap, or Rock.
To me the 70's is unbeatable. Disco stands alone but it also had the psychedelic soft rock which is really good too.

80's had nothing?!?!?!?!
Most of the songs we know and love were from the 80s. It is my favorite decade by FAR. I'm okay with disco, but all the music I've heard from the 80s (which is a lot considering I was in a show about the 80s) is great and creative. Some songs: Hungry Like the Wolves by Duran Duran Love Shack by the B52s Centerfold by J. Heils Band (sp?) And soooooo much more. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm attacking your character but saying the 80s has nothing good is really an understatement. ![]() |

Definitely the 80s. I also love the early-mid 90s music. Haven't listened to much 60s or 70s yet.

I love most of those decades, even though 50s music for the most part is extremely dated and a lot of the popular 00s music isn't anything to write home
about. I chose the 70s though because it's the one that holds the fondest memories for me, and had a good mix of artists that were popular. I could have
easily chosen any of the others though.

I love the 90s music and I first listened it back when I was my kid years. I also love 70s, 80s and 2000s music. I have a mp3 songs of 1990s and 2000s.

The 80's had just really bad music to me and all those songs included. Most of it had some crappy electronic insturment to it which wasn't perfected
yet. Although the songs certainly are catchy they just lack substance for me.

I voted for 80s but I really love 50s music as well. If I could have chosen a time period to live in, I would totally put myself in the 50s as a teenager. I
just love the idea of the ice cream parlors and the fashion with the girls print dresses and the guys and leather jackets, drive ins, the cars, everything
really. <333 60s music sucks, 70s is decent, 90s is also bad, and current music is ok but I think I'm biased since it's the only decade I can truly
remember all of.

Every decade has great songs/artists, but SOME were better than..... OTHERS!??!?
It's a toss-up between the 60's, 90's, and 00's for me (not a lot of the popular, mainstream stuff of the 2000's though... *shudder*) The 70's had disco which is the best genre of music EVERYou've gotta be kidding. Disco has to be the worst thing that ever happened to music. |

I like 2000s, obviously. I don't care about "substance" or any of that garbage. A song has to just sound good, and I like the sound of modern
music, so yay 2000s, I guess?

Oh, and I concur. Disco is probably one of the most mentally retarded genres of music ever... just terrible, and definitely not my type at all. 70s overall is
a pretty dumb decade music-wise, except for like American Pie and stuff.

I put 80's as well. 90's would be second and 70's third AND NOT FOR FUCKING DISCO. Screw you for saying the 80's had nothing
I could understand that you like disco if you were a 40 year old gay man with a mustache.

Actually, scratch that, I have like no love for most music made before the mid-60's. I'm totally the opposite of Brandon - I fucking hate what rock was
before the mid/late-60's. Thank God for artists like the Beatles, Stones, Who, Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, etc. who came along and decided to
kick ass.

I disagree with the line of thought that music isn't effective unless it has some sort of real meaning to it. To me, good music makes you feel
something. If I wanted something that HAD to have meaning to be effective, I'd sit down and read a textbook. Music is definitely about emotion.
And of course, every decade has certain music that is fantastic and other music that is horrific. I think the overall best decade for music would be the 70s or 80s, because I like pretty much all the big genres that came out of them: disco, classic rock, and new wave. Of course, the 90s get a special mention just because that was the music of my childhood (even though a lot of it is REALLY shitty in retrospect). The worst decade for music is definitely the 00s, at least to me. I mean, there are some good songs, but 90% of the music produced is someone ripping-off either Beyonce, Fall Out Boy, or 50 Cent. And I know that tons of people love that music, and that's cool, but it does absolutely nothing for me. I listen to it and I just hear someone over-vocalizing or whining or shouting, and I don't feel anything but my brains leaking out my ears.
You're shouting so loud, you barely-joyous, broken thing. You're a voice that never sings. |

What is so horrible at disco? And if anyone was referring to me about music having meaning (I didn't read every post in this thread so yeah) I certainly
didn't mean that because to me music has to sound good, I could honestly care less about lyrics (as long as it doesn't have slang or just words that
are retarded)
